During the time of the Crusades, The European Christians went to be trying to get the Muslims to turn into Christians. It would be hard to turn everyone into christians because many people had their own christianity they believed in. Christ leads the crusaders into battle, the early 14th century. The Europeans didnt succeed at what they wanted to do. But after all, they benifited from trying to do so.The Murder of Thomas a becket
He was the son of a wealthy man. He was very smart, he was educated in England, France, and Italy. He was always nice to the poor, he gave them food and bathed them. He got caught helping the poor and he was punished for doing so.
The Magna Carta
The vicious but pragmatic John was strongly backed by the pope, but the English barons forced him to sign the document.
The Black Death
The Black Death or Bubonic Plague, which struck England in 1348-1349, delivered another blow to feudalism. Highly contagious and spread by fleas from infected rats, the disease reduced the nation’s population by a third causing a labor shortage and inevitably giving the lower classes more leverage than ever before against their overlords.
The Knight
I think the Knight was very cool. He was brave and he fought many battles and won them all. He lived a pleasant life, and it seemed like he showed everyone respect. He never yet had any vileness said, In all his life, to whatsoever wight.
The Squire
The squire was his Knight‘s son. He seemed like he was happy all the time because he was singing or whistling all day. The squire was young and had great strength. "A lover and a lively bachelor, With locks well curled, as if they'd laid in press." He was a ladies man with good hair and well dressed.
The Yeoman
The Yeoman was a servant. He never needed help with any of his task. He bore a horn, the baldric all of green; A forester he truly was.
The Prioress
She was a woman with a big heart. She could sing really well. And she spoke French fairly and fluently, 125 After the school of Stratford-at-the-Bow, For French of Paris style she didn't know.
Monk
The monk was known as being a real man. He loved hunting and he rode on horses. His same monk let such old things slowly pace and followed new-world manners in their place.
The Friar
He was a very festive man. He knew how to gain a fair living. He cannot weep however pains may smart. Therefore, instead of weeping and of prayers, Men should give silver to the poor friars.
The Merchant
He was a very worthy man. He spoke his mind and was very truthful. This worthy man kept all his wits well set.
The Clerk
He was very educated. He read many books, and studied philosophy. For he would rather have at his beds head some twenty books.
The Sergeant of the Law
He was a wise man. He vocabulary was educated, and had great dignity. He took large fees, had robes more than one. 320 so great a land-buyer there was none.
The Franklin
He had a big white beard. He was a very joyful man and well off by himself. His house was never short of food and pies of fish and flesh.
The Cook

The Reeve
The Reeve had long legs, and he was very slim, and very wealthy. He knew well how to please his lord subtly, By giving him, or lending, of his own goods, and so got thanked - but yet got coats and hoods.
The Summoner
He had pimples all over his face and all the kids feared him because of that. Well loved he garlic, onions, and also leeks, And drink strong blood red wine until dizzy. Then would he talk and shout as if he's crazy.
The Pardoner
He had yellow hair, and it came down to his shoulders. He was very stylish and well dressed. A voice he had that sounded like a goat. No beard did had he, nor ever should he have, For smooth his face as he'd just had a shave.

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
I like this tale very much. It was about the Green knight challenging Sir Gawain to make a swing to cut his head off, and a year later The green knight get to do the same to Sir Gawain. After Sir Gawain took a swing to his head, he cut it off and he was still alive. Sir Gawain was a brave man and everybody knew and heard of him. Sir Gawain was worried he would meet death after the year comes up but he was very brave and was not afraid.
After one year, Sir Gawain went to the home of the Green knight. He took three swings of his head but couldnt cut his head off. He wore a sash like the Green knight wore also. The swings only cut his neck a little bit. But the Green knight only did that to test how brave Sir Gawain was. After the challenge, he knew Sir Gawain was a brave knight and wasnt like the rest of them.

How does the literature you've read reflect the Middle Ages?
Sir Gawain and the green knight is similar because both has a leader that was looked up to. In the middle Ages, it was William the King, and in Sir Gawain and the green knight it was Sir Gawain. They both was brave men, and people looked up to them for that. "Sir Gawain, i'am convinced yourr're the finest man that ever walked this earth." This line came from the Green knight after he contested Sir Gawain."William of Normandy, a place in France just across the English Channel, conquered King Harold of England, who was the last remaining of the Anglo-Saxon Kings." This line was in the Middle Ages. He was the only Anglo-Saxons King left.

Beowulf

Beowulf
The story Beowulf was very interesting to me. I learned that in Hrothgar's Danish kingdom lived a gruesome monster-giant named Grendel. Beowulf was a hero in his time, and was the strongest man alive. He feared nothing and he did whatever he can to protect the king. Hygelac and his warriors along with Beowulf set sail to help the king against Grendel. He was a hero to all the people and everyone knew who he was.
Everyone was scared of Grendel and had everyone sad. Beowulf was the strongest man in their time, and he wanted to help the king and his people. But a warrior of Hygelac's heard of Grendel's doings;he was the strongest of men alive in that day,mighty and noble. The first night Beowulf stay with the king, he stayed up the whole night waiting for Grendel to attack. Came then striding in the night the walker of darkness.In that gabled hall the warriors slept, those who guarded the hall. . .all but one. That night Grendel came and he saw all the warriors asleep in the hall. That’s when Grendel met Beowulf and Beowulf grabbed his arm and Grendel thought to himself that he never met a man with hands so hard. He was frightened and he wanted to run from Beowulf. The criminal knew he had not metin this middle-earthanother with such a grip.Grendel's spirit was afraid and his heart eager to get away, to flee to his hiding place, flee to the devils he kept for company. Never had he met a man such as this. Grendel and Beowulf started to battle each other. At the end of the battle Beowulf ends up killing Grendel and hanging his arm, shoulder, and everything else.
They celebrated Beowulf victory but the same night Grendels mother comes along and kills a friend of Hrothgar. The king was horrified that it was another monster around and told Beowulf about the monster. The king also told Beowulf about the underwater lair where the monsters live. The king thought since that Beowulf killed Grendel he could kill his mother too. Everyone was counting on Beowulf to save them once more and they will reward with treasure and other goods.
To fight Grendels mother, Beowulf travels to the lake where she lives to find her. As he hopped in the lake, Grendels mother grabbed him down wit her. As he was going down into the lake, he saw many creatures in the water as well. While Beowulf was in the water, he found a sword that is said to be magic. With the sword he cut Grendels mother in the back and it cut through her.
In the last battle, Beowulf has gotten older but still going to fight the dragon. The shield he had melted from the dragons flames from his mouth. He tried to us the sword but it broke while trying to strike the dragon. When the older warriors saw that Beowulf was down they ran with fear except on warrior. The warrior was Wiglaf. As Beowulf was dying he asked Wiglaf to enter the inner darkness of the tower where the treasure was. When he returned he seen Beowulf hurt.
I think Beowulf is a really brave warrior that doesn’t know anything about the word fear. Everyone looked up to him at what he did and the strength he had. It is very similar to Anglo-Saxon because everyone is very kind to the king and gives him whatever he wants. In Anglo-Saxon, the Romans were very good at protecting Britain. They fought in battles to defend their territory.In Beowulf, the king and his warriors was good at protecting his hall with the help of Beowulf. Both of the stories involved a dragon that they had to come upon.
I think that Beowulf is like Captain America. Beowulf protects the King and his land while Captain America protects the streets from all the bad guys. Their Different because Beowulf only protects the King and his land while Captain America protects all of America."Beowulf had fulfilled his promise to the Danes and all the distress they had endured,all the trouble and sorrow,had reached an end."From this quote, i read that beowulf wanted to protect his people just like captain America. I think Beowulf died a brave and manly way. He fought for what he believed in and tried his hardest to do so. Did a lot for the king and I believed all the other warriors should’ve stayed and fought by his side as he died."Then the twisted gold, treasure uncountable, was lain in a wagon; they carried the gray warrior to Hronesness.For him then they prepared a huge funeral pyreon the earth, hung with helmets, war-shields, and bright coats of mail, as Beowulf had asked."In this quote, it tells that Everyone will remember him and his death, because he was brave enough to fight three beasts that people was afraid of. Beowulf can be compared to Captain America because both fought on what they belived in and wanted to save the people.
Beowulf by the dragon biting his neck and the venom had gotten inside him. All of the warriors that followed Beowulf were sad but looked up to him of his greatness. Everyone showed him love and gave him the respect he deserved. Therefore, he will be forever missed by the warriors who fought beside him. I think that they men who was beside him shouldve helped him fight the dragon instead of running away. The king and Wiglaf was brave to stay and help defeat the dragon
